Virginia Cottage Guest House offers comfortable accommodations just minutes from the vibrant Bowness town centre, making it convenient to shops, bars, cafes, and the lake. Many guests appreciate the well-equipped rooms, some of which offer mountain views, televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, and even USB ports. While some found parking a bit of a hassle since it is in a public car park, the delicious and varied breakfast, including full English options, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, and eggs Benedict, seems to be a highlight for most. The guest house is also dog-friendly, making it a popular choice for travelers with pets.

EXCELLENT stay!

tea facilities powerful shower breakfast choice warm welcome
Angus and Sherry provided a genuinely warm welcome. The room included tea making facilities, a TV, WiFi, and USB ports on wall sockets. I found the shower warm and powerful with a separate toilet. The breakfast choice was Really good with options such as a full English, smoked salmon, and eggs benedict.
The public parking lot filled up quickly, so I waited a bit for a space.
Facilities
9/10
The guest house is very dog-friendly, cute pets. There is no immediate parking, though a car park is just three minutes away, costing £20 for three nights. An open-top bus trip to Grasmere was recommended and cost only £2 each.
Location
10/10
The guest house provides easy access to shops, bars, and restaurants, all within a short walk. A nearby pub and wine bar, and the town centre is only minutes away. the location is PERFECT for exploring.
Rooms

The room was spotlessly very comfy and tidy. The bed was really comfy, promising good sleep. A nice touch was the fresh milk provided daily, so you can drink a great tea. Rooms have a TV and a kettle for making hot drinks.

Angus and Sherry are very cute. they happily help with anything. They went out of their way to. They offered lots of good breakfast options. they catered well for dietary needs. I felt very welcomed.

fantastic stay with my furry friends

perfect location dog amenities suite televisions
I stayed here for a few nights and found the location excellent for exploring (right next to the shops and pubs). the room was well-prepared. When i arrived, i found treats, bowls, and beds specifically set up for my dogs. the suite i booked had two televisions, one in the bedroom and another in the living area, pretty convenient.
the public parking was a bit challenging, especially since the lot was full upon arrival. i had to wait for a space and the daily parking fee of £9 felt a bit steep for a public car park. it's still close, but it adds to the overall cost.
Dining
9/10
the breakfast included a variety of cereals, fruit, juices, and jams to choose from. the full english breakfasts are home-cooked and were delicious, with locally sourced ingredients. the dining area even had complimentary sausages for the dogs.
Facilities

the room had fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries, a nice touch. my room even included a fridge, very handy for storing drinks and snacks. the whole place felt really clean.
